Alan M. Hirahara
MD, FRCSC

Alan M Hirahara, MD, FRCSC is an orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in sports medicine, and is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and orthopaedic sports medicine in the United States and Canada. He runs a busy private practice in Sacramento, California. He was fellowship trained in orthopaedic sports medicine at the University of Toronto with Dr. Anthony Miniaci. He completed his residency training in orthopaedic surgery in French at l'Université de Montréal. He attended medical school at the University of California, San Francisco and completed his BS in Kinesiology at UCLA with College Honors, Departmental Honors, Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated Magna Cum Laude.. Dr. Hirahara lectures and teaches nationally and internationally; does research; and publishes on arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery, orthobiologics, and the use of ultrasound. He is a team physician for the Sacramento River Cats (AAA Affiliate, San Francisco Giants MLB) and the California State University, Sacramento. Dr. Hirahara was appointed to and currently serves on the prestigious NCAA Committee, Competitive Safeguards & Medical Aspects of Sports (CSMAS).
